Our mission

Our mission is to raise funds, leverage resources, and act as a catalyst to involve the community in public education.

Our purpose

BSF is an independent, non-profit organization working in close partnership with our public school community. Our success depends on enthusiastic volunteers, a small, dedicated staff, and a generous community. Each year we fundraise through our fall Clickathon campaign, our Gala Auction Dinner, and our Spring Applaud Our Teachers campaign. Our goal is to bring the entire community together in support of local public schools.

Our goals
  • Raising significant funds to provide innovative programs at every grade level, academic excellence for every student, and highly-qualified teachers in every classroom.
  • Galvanizing the community to be involved, engaged, and aware of successes and challenges in our public schools.
  • Supporting and scaling cutting-edge and innovative ideas that would otherwise not be supported by public funding sources.
  • Inspiring parents, community members, civic organizations and businesses to partner with BSF to enhance education.
Our history

In 2006, two organizations (the Bainbridge Educational Support Team (B.E.S.T.) and the Bainbridge Public Schools Trust) joined forces to create a proactive, community-wide foundation committed to raising critical funds for our public schools. Since 2006, BSF has raised $8 million for our schools and impacted over 3,700 students each year.

Why do we need private funds for public education?

For 40 years, Washington State has failed to fully fund education. While local levies supplement the state budget, a gap remains.
